Ways to protect your delicate electronics in storage

There are things you can freely put in the truck knowing that nothing will go wrong. This is true for hard and sturdy things like tables, chairs, furniture, and so on. But many things are not so stable and sturdy. Those are things like glasses, plates, mirrors, and similar. However, one of the worst things you can transport from point A to point B is electronics, especially delicate ones. Also, many devices may ‘suffer’ in the storage if left for a prolonged period of time, and especially, if they are not packed with care. So, what are some of the ways you can protect your delicate electronics in storage and when they are on the move? Let’s solve those problems!

Make a list of your electronic devices you want to put in a storage

Every electronic device is its own problem, and every one of them requires a special kind of packing. This is why it would be best to make a list of electronic devices you want to put in storage. You have to know what you are putting in storage, and you have to analyze the problems with them you need to solve.

Get your hands on some packing materials

You have to know how to prepare a pack properly for storage. Before you start preparing your electronic devices for the storage, you have to find a way in which you can pack them. Of course, it is best to have an original package for them, but often, that is not the case. This is why you have to get some packaging for them. Packing materials for electronic devices are not that expensive. Her’s what you need to get:

  • some boxes
  • electrician’s tape
  • protective material like plastic beans
  • sticky tape

You have to find storage that suits you

Protect your delicate electronics by putting them in the right storage.

The most important thing is to find a good storage unit. Your storage unit mustn’t be hot and damp. You have to find a storage which is cold and dry, preferably with climate control. This is even more true if you want to rent long-term storage. Also, this storage needs to be near your place of interest.

The packing process

If you have the original packaging for some of your devices, the process of packing is pretty straightforward. But if you don’t, you have to be creative. The most important thing is to protect your devices from damages in the transport and in the storage. So, how can you do that?

Take all of the cables from your devices, check for damages, repair them with electrician’s tape, and mark them. You have to mark them to know which cable goes where. Put all of your cables in one or two boxes or plastic bins.

Put your devices in boxes that are filled with plastic beads. Close those boxes, secure them with sticky tape, and mark them. Mark which way is up. Make sure to put your devices on top of other things. Do not put something on top of your device’s boxes.
